A parent volunteer holding a folder of permission slips, a class logo a student drew, and a spirit run date that is already printed on a flyer is the person who usually starts one of these orders. The goal is simple and slightly stressful: every family that signs up should walk away with the same sticker, the art should look like the drawing and not like a committee redesigned it, and the total should land somewhere the PTA treasurer will sign off on without a second meeting. What the order usually contains

Push the same sticker to 500 pieces and the rate drops to 22 cents, so each one is $0.88 and the full 500 is $440.00.

That second line is worth showing your treasurer. Going from 300 to 500 of the same 2 by 2 inch sticker adds 200 pieces for $152.00 more, because every sticker in the order moves down to the lower rate, not just the extra ones. If your sign up list is sitting anywhere near the top of a band, it is worth counting again before you decide.

The ten piece line

An order qualifies at 10 or more pieces or at $10 of merchandise, whichever comes first. It is not a price floor and it is not a minimum spend dressed up in other words. A small run of a single design for the coaching staff or the organising committee is a real order, the same as a run for the whole school. If you are testing a design at a small count before committing the fundraiser to it, the rate at that count is the 35 cent one.

Artwork that started life on paper

A student drawing, a hand lettered sign, or a logo that only exists as a photo of a printout is the normal starting point for a fundraiser, not a problem to apologise for. What helps most is the flattest, largest, least cropped image you have. A drawing photographed straight on in daylight is worth more to us than a scan of a scan. Tell us which line is meant to be the outside edge, because on a die cut sticker that outline is where the cut goes, and a sketch line often sits close beside the final one. If the design carries a year, a grade, or a run name, check the spelling with whoever wrote it before you send it, because text that came off a drawing gets reproduced as drawn.

A tight cluster of neighbours

If you are the student whose drawing is being used, send the original rather than the version somebody traced to make it easier for us. The traced one loses the things that made the committee pick it.

Is 500 pieces worth it for a South Huntington fundraiser that only needs 300? At 500 the rate falls to 22 cents, so the same sticker is $0.88 each and the 500 come to $440.00. Whether the extra 200 pieces are worth $152.00 depends on whether you can hand them out, which is your call rather than ours.
