No backing, no edge
- A sticker sits on top of the surface. The artwork is surrounded by a thin cut edge, which is usually fine and sometimes the look you want.
- A transfer leaves the printed shape and nothing else. On clear glass that means you see through the gaps in the design rather than through a film.
- On a curve a transfer follows a straight-walled tumbler or bottle more willingly than a stiff cut sticker does.
What the item is and what it is made of. Glass, stainless, powder coated metal, acrylic and finished wood all behave differently, and the answer starts there.
Roughly how large the printed graphic needs to be on the item, and how many pieces you need. A photo of the item with a coin or a ruler beside it settles the size question faster than a description.
Your artwork, in whatever state it is in. Vector is ideal. A rough version is still enough for us to tell you whether the job works.

It is a printed graphic that transfers onto a hard, smooth surface and leaves no backing film behind. Where a sticker sits on top of the surface with a visible edge, a transfer puts the ink on the surface and nothing else, so the printed shape is all you see.
That is the reason it suits glass, metal, acrylic and finished wood, where a sticker edge would be the first thing anybody noticed.
Hard and smooth is the requirement. Glass, stainless steel, powder coated metal, acrylic, sealed or finished wood, and rigid plastic all qualify.
Rough, porous, textured or flexible surfaces are not what this is for. If you are unsure about a specific item, send us a photo of it and tell us what it is made of.

Often, yes, and it is orderable today at a published price. A die-cut sticker on a flat, smooth panel looks sharp and goes on in seconds, and the only visible difference is the thin cut edge around the artwork.
If the edge matters to you, or the surface is glass you can see through, the transfer is the better answer and it is worth waiting for a quote.
