Custom Die-Cut Stickers for New Cassel, New York

A four piece band standing behind a folding table with a cash box, a crate of records and one logo they want people to walk out with is the customer this page is written around. The sticker is usually the cheapest thing on that table and the one that travels furthest, so it gets ordered in the largest number. How the rate is worked out

Die-cut stickers are priced by area rather than from a fixed menu of sizes. Multiply the width by the height in inches and you have the square inch figure for one sticker. That figure is then charged at a rate per square inch, and the rate falls as the quantity goes up:

The bands are not a discount applied after the fact. The rate you land in is the rate the whole run is charged at, so a quantity sitting just under a band edge is worth a second look before you commit to it.

A 4 by 4 inch sticker, run at two quantities

Take the shape most bands settle on, a square-ish logo sticker at 4 by 4 inches. That is 16 square inches. Order 250 of them and you are in the 24 cent band, so each sticker is $3.84 and the run comes to $960.00. Push the same design to 500 pieces and the rate drops to 22 cents, which puts each sticker at $3.52 and the full 500 at $1760.00.

Look at what that second number is doing. The quantity doubled and the cost did not, because the per piece price came down at the same time. It is the reason a band that thinks it needs 250 often orders 500 instead: the second 250 cost less each than the first 250 did.

The order minimum, which is not a price floor

An order qualifies at 10 or more pieces, or at $10 of merchandise, whichever comes first. Those are two separate doors into the same room. A large sticker can clear $10 of merchandise well before it reaches 10 pieces, and a small sticker will usually reach 10 pieces long before it reaches $10. You are not being asked to spend a set amount. You are being asked to place an order that is worth setting up, and either route gets you there.

Artwork and the line the cut follows

A die-cut sticker is cut on a line that follows your artwork, so the thing that matters most is a clean edge on the design itself. A logo with a hard outline, a lettermark, a shape with a border around it: all of these cut cleanly because the outline tells the cutter where to go. Artwork that dissolves at the edges, or sits on a background you meant to disappear, needs a decision made about where the sticker actually ends. Send the design, say what you want the outline to follow, and we will set the cut line and show it to you before anything is printed.

Hand drawn artwork and scanned flyers are the ones worth talking through, because an edge that reads fine on a screen is not always an edge a blade can follow.

Where the town sits, and what is around it

The small label. Several designs at once, one per artist, often at different sizes. Worth remembering that the quantity band is set per design, so five designs at 100 each is priced differently from one design at 500. Ask if you want both figures before you split the run.

The solo act. A first New Cassel order that is small on purpose, to see the logo cut to shape before committing to a long run. The 10 piece and $10 merchandise doors exist for exactly this, and nothing about a small first order stops a larger second one being priced in a lower band.
