A parent volunteer organising a spirit run is usually holding three things at once: a design somebody's kid drew, a headcount that keeps moving, and a budget the committee already voted on. Square inches means the sticker's own footprint, height times width, not the sheet it arrives on. A 3 by 3 inch sticker is 9 square inches. That is the size most school designs settle on, large enough for a mascot and a line of text, small enough to live on a binder or a water bottle.

Running a 3 by 3 through the bands

Put that 9 square inch sticker against the two counts school groups usually argue between. At 250 pieces the rate is 24 cents, so each sticker is $2.16 and the order comes to $540.00. Push the same design to 500 pieces and the rate drops to 22 cents, so each sticker is $1.98 and 500 of them is $990.00.

The useful thing to notice is that the lower rate applies to the whole order, not just to the pieces past the five hundredth. You are not buying 500 at two prices, you are moving the entire order into a cheaper band.

Choosing between two fifty and five hundred

That gap is the real decision most committees are making. If the event is sized around one grade, or one team and its families, 250 is an honest number and 24 cents is the rate you will be working with. If the design covers a whole building, or if anyone has said the words "we should have extras for next year", price the 500 band before the vote.

The order minimum sits far below either. An order qualifies at 10 or more pieces, or at $10 of merchandise, whichever comes first. It is not a price floor and it is not a fee. Fundraiser counts clear it without anyone noticing. It matters more for the small follow-on orders, a handful for the coaches or the table sign.

Five neighbours inside three and a half miles

Send whatever you have and say what it is. What matters most for a die-cut is the outline: a design with a clear silhouette cuts well, and one with hairline details and thin floating pieces needs a slight outline added so the shape holds together.
