Die-Cut Stickers for a North Babylon School Fundraiser

A parent volunteer holding a sign-up sheet, a folder of student drawings and a budget that has to cover its own costs is usually the person who starts one of these orders. The job is easy to describe and fiddly to execute: take a piece of art the kids already like, turn it into something a few hundred families will actually carry around, and land on a number the committee can defend at the next meeting. Die-cut stickers suit that work because the cut line follows the drawing instead of boxing it into a rectangle, and because the cost per piece goes onto a spreadsheet without footnotes.

Where the money actually goes

Stickers here are priced by area, not by how complicated the design is. You choose a size, we work out the square inches, and the rate per square inch depends on how many pieces are on the order. At 1 to 24 pieces the rate is 35 cents. From 25 to 49 it is 30 cents. From 50 to 99 it is 28 cents. From 100 to 249 it is 26 cents. From 250 to 499 it is 24 cents. At 500 it is 22 cents. Nothing else in the calculation moves, which means a committee can model the whole thing before anyone signs off on anything. Decide the size, decide the band, multiply.

The same sticker, priced twice

Take a 4 by 4 inch sticker, which is 16 square inches. At 120 pieces you are in the 100 to 249 band, so the rate is 26 cents and each sticker costs $4.16. One hundred and twenty of them come to $499.20. Now push the same artwork up to 250 pieces. The band changes, the rate drops to 24 cents, and the identical 4 by 4 inch sticker costs $3.84. Two hundred and fifty of them come to $960.00.

That pair of numbers is the decision most fundraiser committees are really making. Going from 120 to 250 more than doubles the pieces while the price per piece falls by 32 cents. If your sell price is already fixed by a printed flyer, the larger band widens the margin on every sticker, including the ones given away at the sign-in table. The risk is the obvious one: unsold stock is unsold stock. The answer is usually to count pre-orders honestly and then decide which side of 250 the real demand sits on.

The minimum, and what it is not

An order qualifies at 10 or more pieces, or at $10 of merchandise, whichever comes first. That is a qualifying threshold rather than a price floor, so a small batch is a real order and not a favour. For a spirit run this matters mostly at the sample stage: a committee that wants the mascot in two sizes on the table before the vote can order exactly that and place the real quantity afterwards.

Three miles wide, five ways

Here is a quirk of this particular corner of Suffolk County that comes up more than you would expect. West Babylon and West Islip sit at exactly the same straight line distance from us, 2.2 miles each, and Deer Park matches them at 2.2 as well. Babylon is 2.4 and Wyandanch is 2.5. From the shop, a single order can serve families scattered across that cluster without any of them being meaningfully further out than the others. North Babylon itself lies 11.1 miles south of us in a straight line, inside the township of Babylon, and the ZIP code on almost every one of these orders is 11703.

Practically: if your parent group draws from more than one attendance area, or your run partners with a club whose families live a town or two over, nobody is the odd one out.

Artwork, and where the cut line ends up

The cut follows the outline you give us. A mascot with a clean silhouette cuts cleanly. A drawing with thin trailing elements, whiskers, flag poles, the tail of a lowercase letter, needs some thought about whether the outline steps back from those points or wraps them. We look at that before anything runs and tell you what we would change, usually one of two things: thicken a hairline, or add a small margin of background so the cut has somewhere safe to land.

Student art is the reason a lot of these orders exist in the first place, and a scan of a hand drawing is a normal starting point rather than a problem. What helps is the largest, flattest scan you can get, plus a note about which parts are meant to be the edge of the sticker rather than part of the picture.

Who tends to order this

PTA and parent association committees. You are normally working backwards from a fundraising target and a headcount you half trust. The band table above is the tool for that, and the 120 versus 250 comparison is worth settling before the meeting rather than during it.

Booster clubs and team parents. Often you want the same mark at two sizes, a larger one for a folder or a locker and a small one to hand out by the hundred. Each size is priced on its own square inches, but the piece count that sets your rate is the whole order, so two sizes together can reach a better band than either alone.

Student clubs and honour societies. Smaller runs, tighter budgets, and usually art made by the members themselves. The 10 piece qualifying threshold means a club with twenty members can order twenty stickers and be a normal customer.

Teachers and school staff. Classroom stickers, reading incentive sets, a room mascot. These are often the smallest orders we see, and they are priced by the same table as everything else.

Questions parents actually ask

Can a North Babylon order be collected from the shop instead of shipped? Yes. Local pickup at our Huntington storefront is free, and it is the option most committee treasurers take when someone on the team is passing anyway. Shipping within the United States is available if that is easier.

We are running a North Babylon spirit run and our pre-order count is still moving. If we place 120 now and 130 later, how does that price? Each order is priced on its own piece count. Two orders of 120 and 130 sit in the 100 to 249 band at 26 cents, so both price at $4.16 for a 4 by 4 inch sticker. A single order of 250 crosses into the 24 cent band at $3.84. If you can wait for the count to settle, one order is the cheaper shape.

Some of our families live in West Babylon and West Islip. Can one North Babylon order go to more than one address? Each shipping destination is its own shipment, so a split like that is really two orders and each is priced on its own count. Given the distances involved, most groups keep it as one order, collect it in one go, and hand out from there.
