Custom Die-Cut Stickers for East Hills, New York

For an order bound for East Hills, the honest first question is not about artwork or size. It is whether somebody would rather collect the finished box in person or have it sent to a street address. Both are open to you, and neither is the right answer for everybody. Collection costs nothing on top of the stickers. Shipping costs whatever the carrier charges and saves a person the round trip.

Because the cut follows the art, the measurement that drives the price is the bounding box: the width and height of the smallest rectangle the sticker would fit inside. A 2 by 3 inch sticker is 6 square inches whether the shape inside it is a rectangle, an oval or a paw print.

Two neighbours at exactly the same remove

Something slightly odd turns up in the numbers around East Hills. Old Westbury is 1.4 miles away. Roslyn Heights is also 1.4 miles away, the same figure right down to the tenth. Albertson sits at 2.0 miles, Glenwood Landing at 2.2 and Searingtown at 2.5. We cover all five.

That is more useful than it first sounds. A committee is rarely made up of people who all sit on the same side of a line. If the person organising the order and the person storing the boxes are in two different places on that list, either address works and the sticker price does not move. The only thing that changes is the shipping charge, and only if you ship rather than collect.

Working out what it costs

Die-cut stickers are priced per square inch, and the rate per square inch falls as the count goes up:

• 250 to 499 pieces: 24 cents
• 500 pieces: 22 cents

Put a real sticker through it. Take the 2 by 3 inch shape from earlier, which is 6 square inches. At 16 pieces you are in the top band at 35 cents, so the maths is 6 times 35 cents, giving $2.10 each and $33.60 for all 16.

Now add nine more. At 25 pieces the rate drops to 30 cents, so the very same sticker is $1.80 each and 25 of them come to $45.00. You have paid $11.40 more for nine more stickers. Whether that is worth doing depends on whether you have a use for them, not on the arithmetic, which will always favour the larger band.

The ten piece line

There is an order minimum, and it is worth understanding what it is and what it is not. An order qualifies at 10 or more pieces, or at $10 of merchandise, whichever it reaches first. That means a single large sticker can clear the bar on value alone without getting anywhere near ten pieces, and ten small stickers can clear it on count without coming to $10.

It is not a price floor. Nobody rounds your total up to $10. It is simply the point at which an order is large enough for us to take on.

Sending the artwork over

Send the best version of the file you have. If somebody in the group drew the design, the original drawing beats a photograph of it, and it beats a screenshot of it too. If a designer sent you a file at some point, that is usually better than anything recovered off a phone.

Then tell us the finished width or height in inches. Because the shape is cut to the outline, "about this big on a water bottle" leaves too much open. One measured dimension settles it, and we take the other from your proportions.

Who tends to order these

A parent volunteer running a fundraiser. You are buying something that has to look deliberate next to a table of bake sale items, and you need a number you can put in front of a committee before anyone commits. The per square inch rate and the band table give you that without a phone call.

An organiser of a spirit run. You have a logo, a year and possibly a slogan, and you want the shape cut around the whole lockup rather than sitting on a square. Send the layout as one file and tell us which dimension is fixed.

A PTA treasurer reordering a design that already exists. You are not starting over and you should not have to. Send the same file again with the count you want this time, and the band table tells you what the new rate is.

A teacher ordering a small run for one classroom. You may be well under the quantities above, which is fine. The 35 cent band exists for exactly that, and the minimum is written so a modest order still qualifies.
